    Harrovians Speakers Club

Knocking knees, trembling hands and confidence nerves will be just a distant memory, thanks to Harrovians Speakers Club.

Think about how many times at work or socially you've had to get up and speak in front of others, and you were disappointed that you should have done better? Or, you just thought you could never do something like that? Do nerves get in the way of promotion prospects and a social life?

Whether you’re a professional, business executive, student, stay-at-home parent or retiree, the good news for the New Year is that better communication is only one meeting away.

You can benefit from building confidence and leadership skills in a friendly club atmosphere. Harrovians Speakers Club meets every 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday every month. Anyone can drop in and find out how they can improve their speaking skills.

President, Tony Lazar, said; “Members come from every walk of life - students, business people, accountants, lawyers, doctors, teachers, book writers, recruitment consultants, cooks, and architects to life coaches. We have a nice mix of ages, in fact anyone over 18 can join.”

“Good communicators also tend to be good leaders.” added Tony, “At Toastmasters, we use tried and tested methods developed over decades, to improve confidence and develop leadership skills - I’ve seen that it can really change lives for the better.  The fees are very low and it really is great value for money. Toastmasters clubs are known for their very friendly and supportive atmosphere.”

Having been a member of many Toastmasters clubs around London for many years, Tony brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Harrovians Speakers Club. Tony has mentored a number of members in the past on their way to becoming confident speakers and individuals.

    Background information

Toastmasters International (TMI) was established in 1924 and has grown to become the world leader in helping people become more effective communicators. TMI and it’s clubs are not-for-profit organisations with nearly 220,000 members in 11,300 clubs in 90 countries worldwide, offering a proven – and enjoyable – way to practise and perfect communication and leadership skills.

The mission of Harrovians Speakers Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills through a structured programme, which in turn fosters self-confidence and personal growth.

Harrovians meetings are typically comprised of about 20 – 40 people meeting regularly (once a fortnight) for an hour or two. Participants practise and learn skills through a range of roles and activities on the structured programme, ranging from giving a prepared or impromptu speech to being the timer, evaluator, grammarian or the Toastmaster for the meeting. Membership is open to anyone over 18.
